Vodafone's mobile infrastructure continues to grow in February

Around Aotearoa, we've upgraded or built 17 cell sites this month

A new month means even better connectivity for New Zealanders as Vodafone NZ continues to build and upgrade mobile network infrastructure, as part of its regional investment program. In February, 17 cell sites were built or upgraded, made up of 3 new Vodafone sites, 13 upgraded Vodafone sites and 1 RCG (Rural Connectivity Group) site. All builds and upgrades were undertaken while adhering to strict health and safety protocols, aimed to keep workers safe.

The regions benefitting from these new builds and upgrades are Auckland (5), Waikato (5), Taranaki (3), Manawatū-Whanganui (2), Wellington (1), and Southland (1).

Thaigan Govender, Head of Radio Access Networks, is excited for the year to come. "After a bumper year of upgrades in 2021, including bringing 5G and more 4G coverage to the Bay of Plenty and Manawatū-Whanganui to offer Vodafone customers the best mobile experience, we have a lot of momentum which will continue over the coming months. We can't wait for more businesses and consumers to reap the benefits of our supercharged network."

The three new Vodafone sites are located in;

  • Lynfield West, Auckland
  • Manaia Town, Taranaki
  • Brooklands, Taranaki

13 upgraded sites are located in;

  • Glenfield Central, Auckland
  • Papakura/Red Hill, Auckland
  • Dannemora East, Auckland
  • Orewa Township, Auckland
  • Wharite, Manawatu-Wanganui
  • Turoa Ski Field, Manawatu-Wanganui
  • Riversdale South, Southland
  • Devon - New Plymouth, Taranaki
  • Galloway Park, Waikato
  • Lugton Park, Waikato
  • Rototuna, Waikato
  • Matarangi, Waikato
  • Porirua, Wellington

The new RCG site is locted in;

  • Otama Beach, Waikato
